Late 19th - early 20th century Appalachian primitive fretless five string banjo. Diminutive neck with shallow indentations for frets. Eleventh fret with walnut patch. Neck appears to be maple. Head tightening system with skin head and iron band with several hooks and screws missing. Replaced tuning pegs, missing fifth string tuning peg. Small tear to skin head. Made without a resonator. Old dry original finish. Missing bridge. Measures 11.25 inches wide x 2.5 x 30 inches tall.
